Stromae: Practice Your French Through Music

French can be fun, and practicing listening doesn’t need to take hours! I always encourage my students to practice a little bit every day rather than cramming for two hours once a week. And what better way to do that than with music?


Today, I want to introduce (or reintroduce) you to Stromae, a Belgian artist who has taken the international music scene by storm. Many of you might already know and love him—he’s performed all over the world and collaborated with stars like Camila Cabello. His music is catchy, full of meaning, and a great way to improve your French while having fun!


 

Who is Stromae?

Stromae (real name Paul Van Haver) is a singer, songwriter, and producer known for blending electronic, hip-hop, and Afrobeat influences into his music. His lyrics often tackle deep and meaningful subjects, from social issues to personal struggles, making his songs not only entertaining but also thought-provoking.


One of his most famous songs, "Ta fête", is high-energy and perfect for practicing your French listening skills. And today, I’ve prepared a special exercise to help you engage with the song actively!
